Vertex Process and Instrument Diagram Design G4PI is a tool for demanding process and instrumentation system design for various industries. The resulting drawings , documents and the diagram database can be effectively utilized in other Vertex software as customer documents, part lists or other listings, or as a basis for Vertex G4Plant plant design 3D modeling. Intelligent PI with the database information can also be utilized efficiently in daily plant operation and maintenance .

New Vertex G4PI
With version 18.0 the PI-diagram design application has been renewed. The new Vertex G4PI software has now been taken on the same platform, Vertex G4, as the other plant and mechanical engineering products from Vertex. All the products are now compatible with each other and transferring and saving files within projects is easier than before.
Vertex G4PI process and instrumentation diagram design application can be purchased either as a separate software or as an add-on module to the existing G4-mechanical design or G4Plant plant design software. Thus, all the design tools use the one and the same G4 platform. This means less work and benefits for the system administrator, as a need to update only one software.
The new G4PI's design features have much flexibility complying with the wishes from the users. Diagram design now takes advantage of the general G4 platform 2D drawing features and G4 overall strengths. When the PI design is the based on G4, the drawings are compatible with the work of mechanical engineer and plant engineer. Now it´s easy to view and edit the drawings made at another design sector.

All Vertex plant and piping design products utilize a new archive browser. Archive Browser will open to all searches, from components to symbols, from drawings to models, or to view or utilize the files from existing projects. Quick Searches, filtering, and user's personal favorite searches are effective new ways to find existing data quickly. With the most convenient choice techniques the found symbols and components are easily used in new drawings or documents. When you work with multiple screens, the archive browser may be open all the time on one screen. The archive browser also has user defined setup functions to justify it according user preferences.
New G4PI manages the concept of the project over the local network as well as over larger workgroup with several locations. The same pipeline can pass through multiple diagrams, and the pipeline data is shown in real time for all those working on the project, regardless of their location. Position data is visible at a glance in all the diagrams in a project, which prevents overlapping in positioning. All the position IDs in a project can be displayed on one screen.
Now it is possible, for example, to drive listings directly from the project databases without a diagram. Diagram data is inherited, regardless of where the diagram data is modified, for example, in continuous pipe lines from a diagram to another. Diagram data can be easily modified, either with the archive browser or using Microsoft Excel.
New G4PI software has several benefits over obsolete and hard-to-use PI software. Existing third-party PI documents (even a large archive) can be easily imported for example in DWG format to intelligent G4PI-diagrams with positioning. Also attribute data can be imported to the databases, if desired. Blocks are converted to Vertex symbols, which can have a positon ID. The attributes in the title of table can be transferred to Vertex archive records and to the title table of Vertex forms. Images can be automatically transferred into Vertex archives. New G4PI software also reads the diagrams of the older Vertex PI 12-version and these can generally be used as such.
G4PI software includes an easy-to-use function to compare the revisions of a diagram. This allows you to graphically see what has changed in the diagrams between the revisions.
All Vertex plant and piping design software products are compatible with the Vertex Workgroup (Vertex WG) and Product Data Management software (Vertex PDM). This allows Vertex comprehensive and efficient applications whether these are used on a local database system or multiple server WG / PDM environment.
